Inthe afternoon of 11th January 2020, Sino-French Engineer School ofBeihang University held its graduation ceremony for the 9th batch ofengineers and the graduates of 2020 at the second report hall of New MainBuilding. Among attendees were Academician Xu Huibin, President of Beihang University; Prof.Romain SOUBEYRAN, President of École Centrale Paris; AcademicianGérard Creuzet, global Vice President of Groupe École Centrale; Prof. Huang Haijun, VicePresident of Beihang University;Mr.Florian FECHE director of human resources of Safran China; Ms. Aline PENOT, Vice Presidentof EDF China; Mr. Cao Di, General Manager of the research and developmentcenter of Schlumberger China; Mr. Bruno GERMAIN, CEO of Orange China researchand development center;WangZongwei, Recruiting Manager of Thales Group North Asia; Ms. Bai Yang, RecruitingManager of Schneider Electric Digital department and others from thegovernment, university and companies attended the ceremony. Xu Ping, Vice Directorof Sino-French Engineer School, chaired the ceremony.
XuPing announced that the graduation ceremony had officially started, and all thepersonnel stood up and sang the national anthem. Then, Prof. Hong Guanxin, Secretaryof the Party Committee and Chinese Director of Sino-French Engineer School,read out the list of graduates of 2020. Prof. Frédéric GENTY French Director of the School,announced the 2020 engineer diploma list. Academician Xu Huibin, Prof. HuangHaijun, Prof. Romain SOUBEYRAN and Academician Gérard CREUZET issued thecertificates and turned the tassel for the graduates. The ceremony also honoredthe outstanding graduates of Beijing, the outstanding master’s thesis of theuniversity, the outstanding graduates of the university, and the winners of the"Comac-Schlumberger" outstanding internship award.
LiYulong, teacher from School of Energy and Power Engineering, congratulated thestudents on their successful graduation on behalf of master’s supervisors. Hereviewed his experience in guiding the master student from Sino-French Engineerschool, and highly admitted the talent training method of general engineer. Heencouraged Sino-French engineer students who have global vision, systematicthinking, and collaborative innovation capabilities, to keep in mind theirmission as graduates of Beihang University, to take responsibility for their future,the development of the country, and the progress of science and technology anduse the exclusive Beihang spirit, the confidence of “looking up at the stars”and the diligence of “down-to-earth” to compose a new chapter. Representatives of thegraduates Zhang Cunwan and Wang Zongyue delivered a speech in Chinese and Frenchrespectively. They reviewed the details of the language learning, engineercourses, business internships, postgraduate projects and researches and life ofstudying aboard during the six and a half years. They expressed their sinceregratitude to the university, the school and the teachers. They emphasized thatthe students of the Sino-French engineer school should have a stronger sense ofresponsibility and a conscience of international communication andinternational cooperation as they had a deep understanding and cognition of thevalues and culture of both China and France. They determined to continue touse their own efforts to contribute to the cause of the construction of ourmotherland, to glorify their alma mater and school, to contribute toSino-French cooperation.
ProfessorRomain SOUBEYRAN delivered address in the graduation ceremony. He congratulatedthe graduates for having chosen an excellent Sino-French international trainingmode and successfully obtaining their engineer diploma. He pointed out that theknowledge structure is being updated quickly in the current era. Engineers shouldnot be conservative or immerse themselves in past achievements. Instead, theyshould continue to enhance their learning. At the same time, he wished that thegraduates would always maintain contact with the school and strengthen the bondbetween alumni and school through school-enterprise internships and scientificresearch cooperation and contribute to the university and the school throughtheir career success. Professor Romain SOUBEYRAN also expressed his gratitudeto the President of Beihang University, the faculty and staff who contributedto Sino-French cooperation. Their supports are indispensable for making Sino-French EngineerSchool of Beihang Universityan extraordinary international general engineer training organization.
AcademicianXu Huibin, President of Beihang, University, gave a speech at the ceremony. Hecongratulated the 2020 graduates of the Sino-French engineer school who had successfullyaccomplished their study and thanked the teachers for their hard work.President Xu affirmed the achievements of the Sino-French Engineer School inthe past few years. Sino-French Engineer School uses its own advantages basedon the existing “Sino-French Risk Science Laboratory”, “Sino-French DataScience Laboratory”, “CREUZET Laboratory”, and The “Sino-French UAV Laboratory”to provides a comprehensive scientific research support and a comfortablelearning environment for the students. He pointed out that, as a model ofhigher engineer education cooperation between China and France, the success ofthe Sino-French Engineer school cannot be separated from the mutual support ofthe Sino-French Engineer school and many internationally renowned enterprises,the close cooperation between Beihang University and the Groupe École Centrale,the great help from French Government and Embassy and also the hard work of allstudents from Sino-French Engineer School. Principal Xu encouraged the graduatesto continue to uphold the spiritual pursuit of Beihang, serving the country,being the pioneer, and to show the characteristics of Beihang people in theirnew posts.
Co-establishedin 2004 by Beihang University and École Centrale Paris, Sino-French EngineerSchool of Beihang University was selected into the first batch of the Programfor Training Outstanding Engineers led by China’s Ministry of Education as apilot major. It is accredited by CTI and EUR-ACE twice successively and canissue bachelor’s and master’s degree of Beihang University and French engineerdiploma. The school adopts the elite education mode by integrating“preparatory-engineer” and “bachelor-master” education creatively in China.Until 2020, the school has trained 9 batches, a total of 662 graduates with twodegrees. It has made a desirable difference worldwide and become a model ofSino-French cooperation in higher education.
