Meeting with the Alma Mater, talking about development | Ecole Centrale de Pékin Alumni Forum was held with great success

On 18 November 2023, the Alumni Forum of Ecole Centrale de Pékin was successfully held in the first conference hall of Beihang University. Weisheng ZHAO, vice-president of Beihang University, Xiaodong SONG, director of the Student Work Department and the Armed Forces Department, Yang WU, deputy director of the Alumni Liaison and Development Department, and all the other alumni representatives, teachers and students, totalling 230 people, attended. The forum was moderated by Jiang ZHANG, secretary of the school's Party Committee.

On behalf of the university, Mr Zhao warmly welcomed all the alumni. He emphasised that embracing international cooperation and openness has been an important strategy for the sustained, high-quality development of the university in recent years. Meanwhile, Mr Zhao also offered his congratulations to Ecole Centrale de Pékin, saying that in the eighteen years since Centrale Pékin was founded, it has had a long history of progress and innovation, and that the school has achieved an integration of the Chinese Licence-master system and the French Matricule-Ingénieur system. Centrale Pékin has created a fine calling card for the school's elite culture, which is regarded as a model of Sino-French cooperation in the field of education by the leaders of Chinese and French countries. In the end, he hoped that the school would maintain a good link with former students and create a regular and diversified communication platform in order to build a Double First Class school together.

Mr Luo, Director of Ecole Centrale de Pékin, addressed the audience on the theme of Thanks, Legacy and Struggle. He said that after graduation, the alumni quickly became technical stalwarts and management elites in various industries, contributing to the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation, the pursuit of Sino-French friendship and the building of a community of human destiny. He hoped that the alumni would pass on their knowledge, experience and skills to the students of the school so that they could always remain determined, dreamers, and continue to work hard in their studies and finally compose together a beautiful song of youth and lead a wonderful life.

Frédéric GENTY, the French director of Ecole Centrale de Pékin, recalled that the school was founded 20 years ago with the aim of sharing knowledge, teaching methodologies and experiences to train tomorrow's best and brightest and general engineers with an international outlook, so that the students become a bridge to promote exchanges between China and France. Graduates of Ecole Centrale de Pékin are international general engineers who have joined the Ecole Centrale group, and their expertise and dedication have given each of them better social prospects.


The forum attracted many alumni who are now working in different industries, with the aim of forging closer links between them and the school to facilitate future communication and exchange. During the forum, Lin LIN, Project Director for Gas Reservoirs of Total Energy Group, Tiefeng WU, Deputy Director and Researcher of Quality Management Department of Shanghai Aerospace Design and Research Institute (SADRI) of COMAC, Yinhang TANG, Senior Technical Director of AInnovation, Yang YUAN, Project Director for Software Research and Development of Schlumberger Group, Zhongjie TANG, Senior Director of China Rongtong Resources Development Group Co, Ltd , Xueying ZHANG, Associate Researcher of the School of Integrated Circuits Science and Engineering of Beihang University, Xianzhi LU, Project Manager of Sinopharm China, Xiaotong ZHAN, Party Committee Member and Deputy General Manager of Sinochem Shandong Bluestar Dongda Company Limited, and Yuanhe GAO, deputy director of the general design department office of the fifth academy of China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation (CASC), as guests of honour at the forum, shared their experiences during their studies, their entrepreneurial activities and their employment. Lin LIN, Project Manager for Gas Reservoirs of Total Energy Group, who became an engineer of a multinational company directly after graduation, spoke about a series of rich life experiences such as working on oil wells in Nigeria and exploring Antarctica as an "explorer", linking the growth path of Chinese-French students to past moments and encouraging them to love life, dare to work hard and keep moving forward to victory.

Tiefeng WU, Deputy Director and Researcher in the Quality Management Department of the Shanghai Aircraft Design and Research Institute of the Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (SACRI), is the first graduate of the school to join COMAC. Under the title "Navigating towards the future, talking about the future", he spoke about the necessity and importance of developing large aircraft,and also shared the difficulties encountered and his unforgettable experiences during his work. He wished the students perseverance in their studies, to seize the opportunities they would have and to be firm in their objectives.

Tiefeng WU (class of 2005)

Xiaotong ZHAN, deputy general manager and member of the Party Committee of Sinochem Shandong Bluestar, became a firm pillar of a Fortune 500 company five years after graduating. He examined his own study experience in detail and summed it up using the six phrases: "knowledge preparation, capability preparation, goal preparation, resource preparation, psychological preparation and physical preparation".

Yinhang TANG, Senior Technical Director of AInnovation, also shared his own learning and work experience, highlighting the fact that a wide range of knowledge is needed to implement AI in industrial fields. He mentioned that the school's students graduated from a wide range of employment sectors, which involves a number of fields and is conducive to interdisciplinary cooperation and exchange.

Yang YUAN, Software R&D Project Manager for the Schlumberger Group, gave a detailed presentation on the growth of Centrale Pékin students within the Schlumberger Group and the company's expectations in terms of engineers, and sincerely invited all students to join the Schlumberger Group.

Having worked for the AVIC Group and the Rongtong Group, Zhongjie TANG is currently Senior Director of the China Rongtong Resources Development Group. He recounted his experience of working abroad and wished the students at Centrale Beijing all the best. He felt that they should always show determination, confidence and perseverance during their studies, and that it was better to plan their careers as early as possible and embrace their ideals with vigour.

Xueying ZHANG, associate researcher and doctoral director at Beihang University's School of Integrated Circuits Science and Engineering, spoke about his own experience at Beihang University and emphasised the important role of the personal capacity for interdisciplinary collaboration, systematic thinking, international vision and cooperation cultivated at the school for one's future career.

Xianzhi LU, director of Sinopharm's Chinese biological project, took as his starting point his own professional experience over the years and explained in particular the importance of having diversified and inclusive, complete and versatile abilities, and encouraged everyone to cherish the present moment, to enrich themselves, to constantly improve their abilities, to learn to think scientifically, to try courageously and to take action.

Yuanhe GAO, Deputy Director of the Office of the General Design Department of the Fifth Academy of the China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, drew on his own study experiences and his professional experience, and gave an in-depth presentation of his vision of work and life. He encouraged students to learn the basics of their profession, broaden their horizons, open their minds and improve their competitiveness in all areas.

In the afternoon, the alumni sharing seminars took place. 16 other alumni shared their forward-looking views on the development of the industry and discussed current and future trends in the development of engineering and technology with the current students. As well as answering the students' questions, they gave them their own advice on their future development.
